Since 1930, there's been a blanket ban on abortion in the Philippines. And there isn't a single exception. But the law has not actually prevented abortion -- it's only made it unsafe and potentially deadly. According to new research by the Center for Reproductive Rights, the law creates a dire public health crisis in the Philippines. Every year, over half-a-million women risk their lives to unsafe procedures. Here, we tell some of their stories.

Young women from the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice in New York City paid a visit to our office, and what they agreed to share with us was nothing less than inspiring. The words of these young women were an invigorating reminder that young people do care about choice. And its not because social networks or movie stars are telling them to. Its because of strong mothers who taught (and will continue to teach) them how to make the best decisions about their own lives.

Kenya's restrictive abortion law harms or kills tens of thousands of women each year. To document the atrocities, the Center for Reproductive Rights produced In Harm's Way, a report detailing the current state of affairs in Kenya. This video brings the report to life by telling the story of Sarah, a sad tale that's far too common among Kenyan girls, and revealing the harm done to Kenyan women seeking reproductive care.
